Representatives from the business community attended an event dedicated to presenting the main findings of the "Privacy Barometer", a study prepared by La Tercera and Descifra that examines how Chileans perceive the protection of their personal data, whom they trust to safeguard it and what they expect from companies in light of the new Personal Data Protection Law.
The presentation was led by Miguel Zlosilo, Analytics Consultant at Descifra. Carla Illanes and Rodrigo Velasco, partners at Alessandri, supplemented the findings with reflections and practical experience concerning the challenges that organisations will face under the new regulation.
They also provided a legal and strategic perspective on the impact of personal data protection on corporate trust and reputation.
Among its main conclusions, the study revealed growing concern over the use of personal data, a low sense of control over the information people share and high expectations regarding transparency from companies.
The event marked the first launch in a series of three studies that La Tercera and Descifra will present during the year, opening a research agenda that will address different aspects of the relationship between individuals, companies and personal data.
As part of this initiative, Alessandri participates as a strategic partner of the "Data Protection Law" Hub, contributing its legal experience and expert perspective on the challenges that the new regulation poses for organisations.
The results of the "Privacy Barometer" will be published by La Tercera on 8 August, at a time when privacy has ceased to be solely a legal issue and has become a key factor in trust and reputation.
