Trump’s suspension of the anti-bribery law: experts analyse the uncertain outlook for the fight against international corruption

On April 10, InLaw Alliance and Latin American Quality Institute (LAQI) are organizing an interesting online debate to address the implications of the suspension of a law that, for almost 50 years, has guided the world in the fight against international corruption.
Daniel Maximilian Da Costa, president of LAQI, and Diego Cabezuela, president of Inlaw Alliance will introduce and moderate the meeting.


The suspension by the Administration of current US President Donald Trump of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the bastion of the fight against international bribery for almost five decades, has generated bewilderment in the business world and deep concern in the markets. To analyze the effects of this momentous paradigm shift, InLaw Alliance and Latin American Quality Institute (LAQI) with the support of Latin Counsel, will hold an online debate, bringing together leading experts.

 Under the title "Farewell to the FCPA, USA abandons the fight against International Bribery" the event will feature the participation of Daniel R. Alonso, former U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, and recognized expert in criminal law and regulatory compliance; Ana Prado, General Counsel of Mercedes Benz France; Felipe García, Managing Partner of Círculo Legal and member of the Board of Directors of the World Compliance Association; and Ingrid Matos, Global Chief Compliance Officer of QGMI.  

Speakers will address key issues such as the impact of the suspension of the FCPA on markets, the response of companies with interests in high-risk countries and the possible replacement of the European Union in the leadership of global anti-corruption regulation.

The event will also feature Daniel Maximilian Da Costa, President of the Latin American Quality Institute, who will offer his views on the consequences of this regulatory change in Latin America, and Diego Cabezuela, senior partner at Círculo Legal and president of the InLaw Alliance of Lawfirms, who will moderate the debate.
