Holland & Knight Grows in Mexico with 17 Lawyers from Sánchez DeVanny  

Holland & Knight has significantly strengthened its Mexico practice with the addition of 17 lawyers from Mexican law firm Sánchez DeVanny. The group includes seven partners, two senior counsels and eight associates who have joined Holland & Knight’s Mexico City and Monterrey offices. The attorneys focus mainly on the areas of corporate law, international trade, labor, social security, compliance, FCPA and environmental law, ESG and represent numerous clients involved in Mexico’s industrial sector.

Partners Gerardo Prado Hernández, Francisco Andrés Gámez Garza, Humberto Morales Barrón, José Ricardo Ibarra Córdova, Jaime Israel Moreno Treviño and Oscar Alejandro Quiroz Chávez and Senior Counsel Rogelio Azcárraga Ibargüengoitia have joined in Monterrey, along with six associates.
Partner Turenna Ramírez Ortiz and Senior Counsel Claudia Georgina García-González have joined Holland & Knight’s Mexico City office, along with two associates.

With these new additions, Holland & Knight now has 62 attorneys headquartered in Mexico. In 2021, Holland & Knight welcomed 13 new attorneys and added a new office in Monterrey as a result of the firm’s combination with Thompson & Knight. In February, the firm celebrated the 10th anniversary of its office in Mexico City.

Gerardo Prado Hernández regularly advises local and international clients on corporate, mergers and acquisitions, renewable energy matters, and general regulatory compliance matters. He previously served as co-administrator and managing partner of Sánchez DeVanny from 2005 to 2014.

Humberto Morales Barrón is the former head of Sánchez Devanny’s Corporate Governance and Regulatory Compliance practice group. Prior to working at Sánchez Devanny, Mr. Morales Barrón worked at General Electric for more than a decade, most recently as its general counsel for Mexico, Central America & Caribbean.

Turenna Ramírez Ortiz is the former leader of Sánchez Devanny’s Mexico City office and head of its International Foreign Trade and Customs group.

Francisco Andrés Gámez Garza is a transactional lawyer with extensive experience advising clients in corporate, mergers and acquisitions, general financing, joint ventures, business structuring, divestitures, sales, spinoffs, soft-landing and general corporate transactions.

José Ricardo Ibarra Córdova is a tax lawyer who focuses on tax consulting and litigation, including national and international tax matters. 

Jaime Israel Moreno Treviño practices in the areas of corporate and M&A. He has advised several clients in the development of their activities and projects in several industry sectors such as automotive, industrial real estate transactions, chemical food products, banking and finance.

Oscar Alejandro Quiroz Chávez advises Mexican and non-Mexican companies on their corporate formations and operations in Mexico, corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, public tender procedures, commercial contracts and corporate law.
