BLP advises Gencom Group in the Acquisition of Papagayo
BLP advised Gencom Group in the acquisition, by a Gencom affiliated partnership, of Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo and the Four Seasons Papagayo Resort.
The ownership acquired the 1,400-acre luxury master development in Costa Rica, anchored by the award-winning, 182-key Four Seasons Papagayo, Peninsula Papagayo which includes such luxury amenities as an 18-hole Arnold Palmer-designed golf course and clubhouse, the 180-slip Marina Papagayo, and the 38,000 square foot Prieta Beach Club – all of which are recognized for offering best-in-class service via more than 700 employees.
Gencom is a leading U.S.-based international luxury hospitality and residential real estate investment and development firm. This acquisition further strengthens the company’s luxury portfolio and will also provide future development, expansion and enhancement of the entire Peninsula Papagayo in Costa Rica.
BLP’s team was led by Partner Luis M. Castro and Associate Juan Carlos Tristán working alongside an expert team of BLP Partners and Associates. The complex transaction had been taking place since December 2014 and included different scopes of law starting with a thorough real estate due diligence, to corporate, banking & finance as well as regulatory matters. The transaction also entailed extense M&A matters, negotiation between corporate partners and financing, among others.
