The Future of Private Equity: Evaluating and improving legal structures in Latin America
The Biennial IBA Latin American Regional Forum Conference: The Road to 2030 in Latin America brought together leading lawyers and experts from the region in Lima to discuss key issues related to the economic, social, political and legal development of Latin America.
On Thursday 20th the panel entitled ‘The Future of Private Equity’ took place, co-led by Rafael Boisset (partner at PPU Peru) and Iván Delgado (partner at Pérez-Llorca).
This panel included the participation of renowned experts in the field of Private Equity such as Leticia Ossa-Daza, partner at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, Ana Nakamura, from Patria Investments, Rodrigo Junqueira, partner at Lefosse, Jorge Montaño, partner at Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, S.C. and Estanislao Olmos, partner at Bruchou & Funes de Rioja.
The session focused on the evolution of the private equity landscape in Latin America, addressing the main trends and challenges for the coming years. Topics discussed included the importance of structuring a transaction to improve returns and mitigate devaluation risks and potential exits, the main challenges for navigating investments, whether a majority or minority investment, as well as the growing evolution of fund continuity. Participants shared positive and negative experiences of private equity funds in the region, identifying successful practices and challenges faced, as well as the adaptation of private equity firms to an increasingly competitive market.
Both Co-Chairs agreed that the panel ‘The Future of Private Equity’ was a success, with outstanding attendance and active participation from experts in the field.
