Uri Weinstok

Uri Weinstok is a partner at BLP in its San José office. His practice areas include Competition & Antitrust, Privacy & Data Protection, Intellectual Property, Advertising, Marketing & Consumer Protection.
He has more than 20 years of experience as a lawyer. His competition and antitrust experience includes assisting with merger approvals, filing and defending actions before the authorities, and conducting audits and compliance programs to help prevent and avoid anticompetitive conduct.
He also represents clients in complex trademark and copyright litigation, anti-piracy matters, and other intellectual property matters, including the registration, protection, defense and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
For more than ten years, he was a member of the national competition authority, the Comisión para Promover la Competencia (Commission for the Promotion of Competition), and also served as its president. He has served as an international consultant to the World Bank and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on regulatory and consumer protection matters.
He is an active participant in the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance (GALA). He is also a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Asociación Interamericana de la Propiedad Intelectual (ASIPI).

• Postgraduate degree in Competition Law, King´s College, England, 2001. Law degree, with honors, University of Costa Rica, 1996.
