Grupo Evans welcomes Rafael Fernández Mebus as partner

Grupo Evans has announced the appointment of Rafael Fernández Mebus as partner.

Rafael was an associate since 2014 and director of the concessions area of the firm since 2021.

He has a vast experience in regulatory matters, advising on the development of electricity projects of all kinds, as well as on water, indigenous law, environmental law and, in general, on regulatory and natural resources matters.

He has extensive experience in handling administrative procedures to obtain electricity concessions, as well as in the negotiation of land use contracts for the deployment of electricity projects.

Mr. Fernández is a lawyer from Universidad de Chile and holds a Diploma in Urban and Construction Law from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.

One of the priority focuses of his new position will be to support Grupo Evans’ clients by providing comprehensive advice on the many aspects of the electricity business (generation and transmission), especially on regulatory issues, support in project design strategy, processing of electricity concessions, as well as strategic land issues, water rights, desalination, aqueducts, environmental issues, relations with communities, and compliance, among others.

In terms of international rankings, he was recognized by Legal 500 during - 2023 as "Rising Star of the Year" in Energy and Natural Resources.
