Carina Barrera Appointed LATAM Law Leader at EY Law

In a significant move to strengthen its legal practice in Latin America, EY Law has announced the appointment of Carina Barrera as its new LATAM Law Leader. With nearly two decades of experience in corporate law, Barrera brings a wealth of expertise that spans multiple industries, including pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, construction and technology.

Carina commented: ‘"I am very excited to take on the role of Legal leader at EY Latin America. It is a great challenge and an opportunity to continue to contribute to the growth of our practice and strengthen our presence in the region."

Barrera’s extensive background includes leading numerous privacy and data protection projects for both large and mid-sized companies across multiple sectors. Her notable contributions have earned her high praise in the legal community, establishing her as a trusted advisor in areas such as intellectual property, M&A, joint ventures and real estate law.

A cum laude graduate of the University of the Americas-Puebla, where she specialised in international law, Barrera also holds diplomas in taxation and international taxation from ITAM and Duke University. Her academic credentials complement her professional experience and equip her to navigate the complexities of corporate law in the region.

As EY Law looks to strengthen and consolidate its presence in the Latin American market, the firm is confident that Barrera’s leadership will be instrumental in driving the integration of legal services across the region.
