Regulatory Challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Chile

Alessandri | Inma Martínez, a global pioneer in artificial intelligence, discussed the regulatory challenges facing Chile in relation to the development and deployment of AI during a conversation hosted by Alessandri.

The discussion examined the main regulatory, economic, and institutional challenges associated with the advancement of artificial intelligence amid the growing adoption of these technologies across different sectors of the economy. The event featured Inma Martínez, a global AI pioneer and advisor to the G7 and OECD Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), and was moderated by Carla Illanes, partner at Alessandri and head of the firm’s Technology and Personal Data Protection practice.

During the session, participants reviewed the international regulatory frameworks currently guiding the development and use of artificial intelligence, with particular focus on European initiatives. The discussion also addressed the risks and opportunities these regulatory models present for the industry, as well as the legislative challenges facing Chile.

Inma Martínez’s visit formed part of the Exploring Industrial Horizons for Chile 2026–2050 project, promoted by SOFOFA in partnership with Imperial Business School. The initiative seeks to project the country’s industrial development through a long-term perspective.
