Latham Leads Historic US$3 Billion Atlas Refinancing in Latin America

Members of Latham & Watkins’ Latin America Practice advised Atlas Renewable Energy (Atlas), a leading international clean energy infrastructure provider, and its sponsor Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), in connection with the largest corporate refinancing for non-conventional renewable energy in Latin America to date.

Atlas announced that it secured the approximately US$3 billion refinancing with the support of GIP. The transaction covers a portfolio of high-performing solar and storage assets located primarily in Chile and also supports projects in Brazil and Mexico.

Atlas continues to evolve its capital structuring approach to support the next phase of the energy transition in Latin America. The refinancing will allow Atlas to optimize its capital structure, unlock competitive financing costs across its regional portfolio, and provide a long-term runway for continued growth in clean energy infrastructure.

Latham & Watkins represented Atlas and GIP with a multidisciplinary team led by partner Carlos Ardila and associate Andres Chester, with assistance from Lucila Dorado.
