Vivanco & Vivanco’s Internship Program Transforms Students into Global Leaders
In the dynamic landscape of international law and consulting, the gap between academic theory and professional practice can be substantial. At VIVANCO & VIVANCO, the concept of an internship has evolved beyond a formal academic requirement into a high-performance ecosystem where young talent engages directly with real-world challenges.
From its Miami headquarters—serving as the firm’s strategic hub—VIVANCO & VIVANCO coordinates a network of 14 regional offices that provide the foundation for this transformation. This infrastructure enables the firm to offer something few organizations can match: an experience that is not only technically rigorous but also deeply cultural.
Diversity and Culture
The firm’s programs are inherently multicultural. With a presence in key locations such as Madrid, Buenos Aires, Costa Rica, and Bogotá, interns gain more than legal or business knowledge—they develop the ability to navigate diverse markets and cultural environments.
Diversity is one of the firm’s core strengths. By bringing together students from institutions such as Georgetown, Northeastern, Universidad de los Andes, and UBA with local teams, VIVANCO & VIVANCO fosters a meaningful exchange of perspectives that benefits all participants. In this environment, an intern may collaborate on a transactional matter in Miami in the morning and analyze regional regulations with colleagues in Buenos Aires later in the day.
A Leadership Vision: The Value of Exchange
To understand the depth of this commitment, it is essential to consider the human purpose driving the firm.
In the words of Diego Amen, Director of VIVANCO & VIVANCO Miami:
"Our greatest motivation is to see the internship as a circular opportunity: it is the ideal setting for interns to learn and gain genuine exposure to real-world challenges, while at the same time enriching us as a firm. We benefit from the diversity of thought and the energy of new generations. Seeing an intern who started with us in Buenos Aires or Miami grow into a key professional in our Colombia offices is the strongest testament to the success of this exchange."
Structure and Flexibility: The Calendar of Success
The program is organized into two intensive cycles designed to maximize exposure:
Summer Cycle I: June 15 – July 15
Summer Cycle II: July 15 – August 15
Given the high demand in hubs such as Miami and Madrid, the program requires careful planning. The firm’s competitive advantage lies in the breadth of its regional network. If a particular location reaches capacity, offices such as Buenos Aires or Costa Rica provide equally robust experiences, consistently maintaining the firm’s standard of excellence.
More Than an Internship — An Investment in the Future
What distinguishes this program is its transformative nature. VIVANCO & VIVANCO does not seek passive observers, but active participants. The goal is for each intern to return to their studies with the mindset of a global leader—capable of understanding client urgency, proposing innovative solutions, and appreciating the value of working in a diverse, multicultural environment.
At VIVANCO & VIVANCO, internships are not merely paid opportunities; they are a platform for developing the next generation of professionals who will shape the future of the industry on a global scale.
