Von Wobeser Appoints Four New Partners to Strengthen Disputes, Tax, Competition, and Compliance

December 09, 2025

Von Wobeser y Sierra, S.C., has announced the appointment of four new partners, effective 1 January 2026. These promotions strengthen the firm’s capabilities in key areas and underpin its mission to offer full-service legal services for its clients’ most complex challenges. This announcement comes during a period of strategic consolidation for the firm, following its recent move to new offices in the Polanco area and on the eve of its 40th anniversary. Von Wobeser y Sierra has 18 practice areas, seven industry groups and a world-class legal team of more than 160 members, including 26 partners, six of counsel and eight counsels.

The new partners are Rodrigo Barradas, Michel Llorens, Luis Enrique Torres, and Ricardo Cacho.

Rodrigo Barradas has over fifteen years of experience in dispute resolution. He plays an important role in the Arbitration and Litigation practices and is part of the Energy and Natural Resources industry group. His participation in high-profile international arbitrations and court proceedings in various jurisdictions expands the firm’s capabilities to offer high-quality legal representation in complex disputes involving Mexico. His high level of commitment and impeccable quality of work are recognised by clients and counterparts. Rodrigo is licensed to practise law in Mexico and in the State of New York, USA.

Michel Llorens has over eleven years of experience in economic competition, with a focus on complex mergers and anti-competitive practices in various industries. He has managed high-profile investigations and represented clients in relevant proceedings before competition authorities, with an outstanding track record that clients value. His experience includes a stint as an in-house lawyer at Pemex (Petróleos Mexicanos). Michel’s promotion strengthens the firm’s ability to represent clients in sensitive economic competition cases.

Luis Enrique Torres brings more than seventeen years of experience in tax and administrative litigation, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and tax consulting. He has litigated complex matters before federal and local courts, as well as before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. Luis Enrique is one of the most experienced lawyers in the use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in tax matters in Mexico. He also advises national and multinational companies on international corporate structuring, as well as on different types of transactions (including mergers and acquisitions and financial operations). His promotion strengthens the firm’s tax practice.

Ricardo Cacho has over seventeen years of experience in criminal law, with a focus on financial and tax crimes. Since joining the firm in 2024, he has successfully led a series of sensitive and complex investigations for clients in various industries. Prior to joining the firm, he led investigations into financial and tax crimes, managed oral trials for tax fraud, conducted legislative negotiations, supervised high-profile criminal proceedings, and litigated before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. He has also held senior positions in the public sector, including at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), and represented Mexico before multilateral organisations such as the UN, OECD, OAS and FATF. Ricardo’s profile is highly valued by clients seeking criminal law advice backed by a leading firm offering comprehensive legal services. His promotion strengthens the firm’s investigations, anti-corruption and compliance practice, particularly in complex criminal and tax matters.

The partners who make up the Executive Committee of Von Wobeser y Sierra shared their perspective on these strategic promotions. Luis Burgueño commented: "These promotions reflect our commitment at Von Wobeser y Sierra to developing a first-rate legal team. Rodrigo, Michel, Luis Enrique and Ricardo have demonstrated an exceptional ability to generate value in complex and sensitive legal matters for our clients, and their growth strengthens the standard of excellence that defines us as a firm."

Fernando Carreño noted: ‘With these promotions, we are strengthening our institutional capacity to continue leading in a dynamic legal environment. Looking ahead to our 40th anniversary in 2026, we are consolidating a structure aligned with our clients’ most demanding challenges and strategic market opportunities.’

Adrián Magallanes said: "Each of these appointments represents a clear commitment to strengthening key areas. The careers of Rodrigo, Michel, Luis Enrique and Ricardo not only demonstrate professional excellence, but also a deep understanding of our clients’ current needs."

Diego Sierra added: ‘These appointments strengthen the value proposition that distinguishes Von Wobeser in the market: the coordinated approach between our dispute, regulatory and transactional areas, within a comprehensive service model.’
