Alvarez & Marsal expands Disputes and Investigations Practice into Mexico

Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has expanded its Global Disputes and Investigations practice in Mexico with the appointment of José Cortina as Managing Director in Mexico City.

Mr. Cortina focuses on internal investigations, disputes, litigation support, intelligence gathering in Mexico and Central America, and complex compliance and regulatory matters for corporations and law firms. He brings more than 20 years of investigative experience and will build a regional team of local experts to better serve A&M’s clients in Mexico.

Throughout his career, Mr. Cortina has conducted risk prevention, mitigation and corruption control assessments for numerous Fortune 500 companies. He has also led investigations involving allegations of fraud, embezzlement, corruption and money laundering.

Before joining A&M, Mr. Cortina served for four years at FTI Consulting as Head of its Disputes and Investigations practice in Mexico. Previously, he was Lead Forensic Partner at Deloitte Mexico and Central America and Manager of the Antifraud and Extortions team at OCRA. He is a Certified Auditor, a member of the Mexican Bar Association and a founder of Fundación SEK, a charitable organization in Mexico.
