Khatiya Asvat

Khatiya has a decade of experience, providing legal advice to local and international clients on Commercial Transactions, Setting up Operations in Panama, Real Estate, Administrative Law, Commercial, Special Economic Zones,
Telecommunications and IT.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Universidad Santa Maria la Antigua, where she prepared a thesis on electronic contracts, and obtained an LLM Degree at Harvard Law School. She is admitted to the Panama Bar (2007) and New York (2009). She is a licensed translator and real estate broker as well.

Khatiya has guided Fortune 500 companies in the apparel, telecommunications and construction industry beginning operations in Panama, and also advises regularly in all manners of commercial transactions and real estate matters.She is the author of the Guide to Real Estate Investment in Panama 2017/2018, published by ADVOC, and co-author of our firm’s Doing Business in Panama Guide, the Panama Chapter of the “International Comparative Legal Guide to Shipping Law” and the Panama Chapter of “Aircraft Finance”. 

Khatiya teaches a seminar on U.S. Corporate Law at the Universidad Sergio Arboleda in Bogota, Colombia, and is a member of the Panama Bar, the International Bar Association, Secretary of the Harvard Club of Panama (2013 – 2018) and was appointed member of the Alumni Council of the Faculty of Law of the Universidad Santa Maria la Antigua (2014).
