Pérez-Llorca appoints Felipe Suescún de Roa as partner in Colombia
Pérez-Llorca has appointed Felipe Suescún de Roa as a new partner in Colombia. He joins to strengthen the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, one of the firm’s key areas in the country.
Suescún de Roa brings over 20 years of professional experience, with a solid background in domestic and international arbitration, dispute resolution, and business law. Throughout his career, he has participated in complex arbitrations across various jurisdictions, seats, and applicable laws—including Argentina, Colombia, France, Mexico, New York, Switzerland, and the UNIDROIT Principles—primarily under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB).
Suescún de Roa is widely recognized in Colombia and Latin America as a leader in his field by various independent rankings, guides, directories, and publications, such as The Legal 500, Chambers & Partners, Latin Lawyer, and Lexology, among others.
With a Law degree and a specialization in Commercial Law from Universidad de los Andes, Suescún de Roa also holds an LL.M. from Georgetown University. In the academic field, he has served as a professor of Obligations, Torts, and Business Law at Universidad de los Andes, and has taught Arbitration and Corporate Law in courses organized by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, the National University of Colombia, and the Superintendency of Companies.
Furthermore, he is the author of the books Tratado de Derecho de Daños en los Contratos (Treatise on Contractual Damages), published in 2025, and Deberes y Responsabilidad Civil de los Administradores de Sociedades (Duties and Civil Liability of Corporate Directors) in 2021, both published by Tirant lo Blanch. He has also authored numerous academic articles in specialized national and international journals. He is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences throughout Colombia and Latin America, has been admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) in London—the institution’s highest accreditation—and served as a foreign associate in the international arbitration group at the Washington D.C. office of a renowned international law firm.
