Vinson & Elkins adds Enrique Dancausa to strengthen cross-border M&A capabilities

Vinson & Elkins has announced that Enrique Dancausa has joined the firm as a New York-based partner in its Corporate practice, strengthening its Latin American and cross-border M&A capabilities.

Dancausa advises strategic corporates, infrastructure investors and private capital sponsors on cross-border acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, strategic partnerships and investments.

His practice spans U.S. M&A, corporate governance and transformational transactions involving Latin America. He advises global clients across the energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, industrial and consumer sectors on transactions involving a broad range of legal, regulatory and commercial considerations.

"Enrique’s significant experience in the power, energy and technology sectors, together with his relationships across the U.S., Europe and Latin America, are a perfect fit for our work helping clients consummate complex infrastructure projects globally," said John Grand, co-head of Vinson & Elkins’ Corporate practice.

Melissa Raciti-Knapp, a partner in Vinson & Elkins’ Finance practice, also highlighted Dancausa’s cross-border transactional experience and deep understanding of the Latin American market.

"Enrique is a highly regarded cross-border transactional lawyer with a deep understanding of the Latin American market and the complex business dynamics that shape investments throughout the region," Raciti-Knapp said. "His M&A and corporate experience complements our project finance capabilities exceptionally well, and together we will be even better positioned to help clients pursue strategic opportunities across the energy, infrastructure and telecommunications sectors."

Dancausa said Vinson & Elkins’ international and sector-focused platform was a particularly compelling factor in his decision to join the firm.

"Vinson & Elkins has built an exceptional platform for advising clients on significant transactions and projects across the energy, infrastructure and industrial sectors," Dancausa said. "The opportunity to join this talented team and contribute to the continued growth of the firm’s cross-border M&A capabilities was particularly compelling."

Dancausa earned his Juris Doctor from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and a Master of Laws from New York University School of Law. A native Spanish speaker, he is recognized by The Legal 500 as one of the leading Corporate/M&A lawyers in Latin America.

For decades, Vinson & Elkins has advised clients on landmark energy, infrastructure, finance and M&A matters throughout Latin America. The firm draws on deep industry experience and strong relationships across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America to help clients navigate complex cross-border transactions, disputes and project financings.
